Drawing Profile
Overview
This tool can display the distribution of pixel values("Profile") along any line
(baseline) on a image. When the profile dialog box is open,
POW is in the "profile" mode. In this mode, the user can create, move,
rotate, and stretch the baseline, and the corresponding "Profile" histogram
is displayed in the separate panel. The coordinates of the starting and
stopping points is also updated in the dialog box.
When the user finishes with this task, he or she can close the profile
dialog box, and returns to the normal mode.
Creating profile
The Baseline can be created by placing the mouse at the desired location in
the image and click-and-drag with the right mouse button down.
When the mouse button is released, a "profile" histogram will appear
at separate panel.
Manipulating profile
The current profile can be manipulated by modified the profile baseline.
The baseline has three handles: the line itself, and the two endpoint.
To rotate and stretch the baseline, move the mouse to the endpoint you want
to change. Press the left mouse, drag it to the desired
position, and release it. The "profile histogram" will be updated.
To move the baseline, move the mouse to any part of the baseline except
two ends. Press the left mouse, drag it to the new
position, and release it. The "profile histogram" will be updated.
Saving profile
By clicking the "Record" button on the dialog box, user can save the coordinations of all
points on the profile baseline in an ASCII file. The result data in the saved file contains
4 elements per line: X coordinate and Y coordinate of Pixel Graph Coordinsates, Pixel Index
and value of corresponding pixel on the Histogram.
The user will give the option to overwrite the result file name if it is already existed, or user
can supply one of his own.
