Digital IR Photography: Caplio GX vs GX8

RICOH Caplio GX (sold since 05/2004) is NIR-sensitive for recent digital cameras.

Its successor Caplio GX8 (sold since 05/2005) is, however, by far less sensitive (as in NUV). As shown below, GX8 needed 12(!) times longer exposure and the pictures are still darker.

For AE to work adequately, ISO-settings at 800 or 1600 are necessary and the images too noisy to be shown here (1/4s f/4.7 ISO1600 5.8mm EV-4.3 WB:AUTO Exposure adjustment:-1.3EV).

A central bright spot is present, but can be removed by simply discarding the blue channel.
